As my first book on an introduction to consulting get\u2019s edited, I wanted to try my hand at writing and illustrating a children\u2019s book which can now be found here<\/a>. The experience was quite entertaining and very educational. Self-publishing allowed me to be extra creative and allowed me to get a good first book out there relatively easily.\u00a0Solar System A Children’s Educational Book and Lesson’s Learned Self Publishing<\/p>\n

Lessons Learned<\/b><\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>The art work was done completely digitally. It was quite easy, but I can tell with a better\u00a0 accurate drawing tablet, the level of art can increase dramatically.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>On my next book, I will experiment with hand drawing and water coloring the art work.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Uploading to KDP for Kindle was extremely easy. It was a bit harder for paperback as files needed to be an exact size and resolution. It took quite a bit of trial and error to get this just right. The author prints just came in and I am very happy with the results.<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>All final art work must be in PDF. Converting my JPEG and TIFF files needed to be done in GIMP Editor, which was free and easy<\/p>\n

The Book<\/b><\/p>\n

The first book is titles \u201cThe Solar System\u201d and it is hopefully the first in a series that focus on science and STEM topics in a fun and educational way, using colorful photos and clever rhyming poems. The book takes the reader from the Sun to Pluto, and shares facts about each. The book is meant for children four to ten years of age but can be read to younger kids or even shared with adults.<\/p>\n
